Flaherty & Collins Properties president Jerry Collins served as a panelist on the 2015 Kansas City Multifamily Summit today. Collins spoke to attendees about the growth of Flaherty & Collins Properties in the Kansas City market, including two new exciting projects in the metro area: The Heights Linden Square, a 222-unit mixed-use development in Gladstone, Missouri with 10,000 square feet of retail space is nearing completion, and Union | Berkley Riverfront Park, a 398-unit mixed-use project in Columbus Park adjacent to the river will include 12,000 square feet of retail and resort-style amenities.

“We really like Kansas City,” said Collins. “Once we got here, we started looking for more opportunities. We cold-called the Downtown Council, which helped led to our work with the Port Authority and a great site on the Missouri River, with great views in one direction and the gorgeous skyline in the other.”

Collins also said the key to successful multifamily developments are the high standard of service given to residents and amenity options.

“Rents aren’t cheap, so we have to provide great services to residents,” Collins says. “You have to provide options, walkability and convenience and combine it with technology and great hospitality.”
