F&C Announces Sun King Will Take Additional Retail Space at The Mill at Ironworks Plaza Mixed-Use Development in Mishawaka

MISHAWAKA, IN – Flaherty & Collins Properties (F&C) has announced that Sun King Brewery & Spirits – which announced last month that it will open a tap room and food hall at The Mill at Ironworks Plaza in downtown Mishawaka – will officially take over the north side retail space from Jack’s Donuts.

“We are really excited for the opportunity to expand into the Jack’s Donuts space for Sun King Mishawaka,” said Clay Robinson, Sun King Co-Founder/CEO. “The additional square footage will allow us to have more space for guests, as well as a private area to host meetings, parties, and community events.”

“We’re very happy this negotiation worked out well for Sun King, Jack’s Donuts, The Mill at Ironworks Plaza, and most importantly, for the Mishawaka community,” says Brian Prince, Vice President of Development for Flaherty & Collins Properties. “We’re thrilled Sun King has committed to expanding its footprint and we thank Jack’s Donuts for our great partnership over the past several years.”

Sun King announced plans in December to open a 5,000-square foot, family-friendly tap room on the northeastern side of The Mill at Ironworks Plaza next to Jack’s Donuts. They will now occupy roughly 6,700 square feet.

“This was hard but allowing Sun King a larger footprint is very positive for the community,” says Lee Marcum, CEO of Jack’s Donuts. “Knowing the impact that Sun King has had on each community it has opened in, the partnership that we have with Sun King, and the endless possibilities to collaborate are exciting for the City of Mishawaka, Sun King and Jacks Donuts.”

“Closing a store is never the end goal for us,” Marcum added. “But this is very different. We will be back. We love the Mishawaka community, and it has been very good to us. Our South Bend location will fulfill our Mishawaka orders and we’re looking for other ways of expansion in the Mishawaka market.”

The Mill at Ironworks Plaza, completed in 2019, is a mixed-use development that includes 232 luxury apartment homes with 13,000 square feet of retail space. Sun King Brewery anticipates opening the location by Summer 2022.
