Flaherty & Collins Properties Set to Break Ground on The Taylor, a $41M Mixed-Use Development in Columbus, IN

COLUMBUS – Flaherty & Collins Properties (F&C) will break ground on The Taylor, a $41 million mixed-use project, featuring space for a future grocer, in downtown Columbus, Indiana this Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 3pm EDT. The groundbreaking event will take place at 725 2nd Street, Columbus, IN 47204.

“We are excited to partner with the City of Columbus and the Columbus Redevelopment Commission on this multifaceted project,” said Deron Kintner, General Counsel for Flaherty & Collins Properties, and the lead project developer. “With an urban grocery, upscale amenities, a tremendous location, we really believe it’s going to be a great project for Columbus and future residents.”

The Taylor will include 200 apartments, space for a 10,000 square foot grocery store, and 400 parking spaces.

“The addition of The Taylor to downtown Columbus is something our community has been seeking for many years”, said Mayor Jim Lienhoop. “We are very excited to see this project take its next steps toward reality and the amenities it will bring to both our downtown and the community.”

“Flaherty & Collins has been a wonderful partner in Columbus’ collaborative efforts to activate our downtown.  We look forward to seeing this development come to life and the vibrancy that it will provide to our community,” said Heather Pope, Director of Redevelopment for the City of Columbus.

The Taylor features modern, resort-style amenities, including a community lounge with kitchen, tech lounge, fitness center with on demand classes, interior storage, bike fixit station, dog spa, bark park, pool, grilling stations, pickleball court, firepits and will be directly adjacent to the 1821 Trail.

Apartments will feature modern designs and finishes, luxury wood tile vinyl, quartz countertops, LED lighting, in unit washer and dryer, and private balconies.

Flaherty & Collins Properties expects that with a focus on studio, one and two-bedroom luxury apartments, The Taylor will see a higher percentage of young professionals and empty nesters.

“Between the amenities and the close proximity to shopping, dining and entertainment options around the downtown area, it’s a perfect mix really,” says Kintner.

Flaherty & Collins Construction serves as the general contractor, with American Structurepoint serving as architect and civil engineer, with Lynch, Harrison & Brumleve as structural engineer. Financing is provided by Busey Bank.

The Taylor expects to open first units to residents in Summer 2023, with full project completion estimated for the Fall of 2023.
