The beginning of 2025 was off to a rocky start for Flaherty & Collins and the construction team at The Marquee in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. A sudden fire in early January at one of the site’s two buildings rendered the 140 nearly-done unit building unsalvageable. Following an in-depth investigation that eliminated the possibility of foul play, the curtains closed as the team demolished the remains and cleared the way for a fresh start.
Now, a round of applause erupts as The Marquee’s second act begins.

The rebuild officially began in July 2025, and the construction team is moving at full-force as the framing phase comes together.
“Construction has ramped back up with the Cedar rebuild,” said Eric Skaggs, Project Superintendent. “[We are] looking forward to building back this beautiful project in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. The team is full steam ahead and the neighborhood is excited to see us back in production.”
While the Cedar building suffered, the Lee building was unaffected by the fire. With the completion of its 67 units at the beginning of 2025, the Lee building is nearly completed leased.
“The Lee building has been doing great with leasing, [it is] currently 88% leased,” said Alaijah Norris, Property Manager at The Marquee. “Residents have been minimally impacted by the lack of amenities but have been enjoying the alternative of amenity use at our sister property, The Ascent at the Top of the Hill, in the Cedar/Fairmount area.”

In addition to rebuilding, the team has placed a renewed focus on safety and resilience at the site. Enhanced and updated protocols are now in place to ensure the Cedar building’s construction moves forward smoothly. These steps not only safeguard the project but also reinforce Flaherty & Collins’ commitment to delivering a community that residents can feel confident calling home.
With construction back in full swing, The Marquee remains committed to delivering more vibrant, high-quality units to Cleveland Heights by late 2026. For continued progress updates, visit marqueeapt.com.
