Flaherty & Collins Properties is proud to announce the opening of its new Kansas City office at 1600 Gennessee Street within the historic Livestock Exchange Building in the Stockyards District. The firm is expected to occupy the 2,500-square-foot office by the end of this October.
The decision to commit to opening the second office reflects both practicality and partnership. The building is owned by Bill Haw Jr. and the Haw family, longtime partners of Flaherty & Collins through collaborative work on The Yards and The Helm. This move strengthens the ongoing partnership and positions Flaherty & Collins in the heart of an area rich with history, opportunity, and accessibility.

“Choosing the Livestock Exchange Building made perfect sense for us,” said Robert Flaherty, CEO of Flaherty & Collins. “Its vintage character and central location align with our vision, while allowing us to expand alongside our partners in the Stockyards District.”
The office will initially house all three arms of the company: Construction, Development, and Management. Flaherty & Collins’ long-term intention is to establish a permanent office presence in Kansas City. The move reflects the company’s commitment to ingraining itself in the community, where it already manages and develops properties. By deepening its local roots, Flaherty & Collins is positioning for opportunities to expand fee-managed services, continue work on the $300 million, three-phase Parade Park redevelopment, and pursue additional public-private partnerships that strengthen the firm’s sister city connection with Kansas City.
In addition to workspace, employees will enjoy on-site café access, shared amenities across adjacent properties, and nearby hotel and conference facilities.
The move also marks a step forward in recruiting and hiring for vital development and construction positions to support the company’s expanding regional footprint.
With its central location, the new office provides easy access to all parts of the city, including the City Market neighborhood, where Flaherty & Collins is currently developing Bellwether, a $113 million, 13-story development with 12,000 square feet of first-floor retail, as well as other surrounding developments.
“We see this as more than just office space,” added Chris Kirles, COO at Flaherty & Collins. “It’s a place where our teams can grow, collaborate, and continue building vibrant communities in Kansas City.”
