Parkside at Tarkington

Site of the former United Way building, Parkside at Tarkington is an adaptive reuse multifamily development that creates 60 high quality units of affordable housing for seniors, 55 and over, with 20-25% of the units reserved for those with intellectual or developmental disabilities. All units will be for households earning between 30% and 60% of the area median income.

Parkside at Tarkington will offer a variety of on and off-site tailored services to its senior and intellectually/developmentally disabled populations. Goodwill Industries, Inc. is Parkside’s Community Integration service provider for intellectually and developmentally disabled populations. Goodwill will also assist Parkside in making supportive services available to residents and engage residents in determining the types of assistance they need.

Additionally, CICOA Aging and In-Home Solutions will offer residents the ability to participate in CICOA’s Meals & More program in which CICOA delivers freshly prepared, frozen meals to seniors living in Marion County. CICOA will also provide transportation to Parkside’s residents through their Way2Go service which provides door-to-door shuttle service for seniors and people with disabilities throughout Marion County. Additionally, CICOA’s Aging and Disability Resource Center offers services for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and/or their caregivers to provide personalized counseling and recommendations to help achieve goals.

Easterseals Crossroads, another partner, offers Recreation Therapy to help develop physical adaptations, social and motor skills, expand cognitive skills, and promote health and wellness for those living with disabilities. Easterseals also offers Adult Day Services for adults with developmental or intellectual or acquired disabilities.

Lastly, Flaherty & Collins property management has a robust array of services that will be offered on-site to Parkside’s residents. The Property Manger serves as the Tenant Services Coordinator and will ensure a variety of services are offered and that the tenants are aware of how to access these services. Some of the services provided at Parkside will be food/clothing pantry and information referrals, quarterly resident meetings, smart use training for energy savings, holiday events, residents association, and a monthly development newsletter.

The combination of these services will provide a great environment for Parkside’s residents to improve their quality of life, have fun, and become part of a community.

The project is sponsored by Vision Communities, Inc. and co-developed with Midtown Indianapolis, Inc., the CDC representing the mid-town Indianapolis neighborhoods, and Flaherty & Collins Development, LLC. Parkside at Tarkington will provide 8,000 square feet of first-floor office space for community and health-based social service organizations. Additionally, the project is located at the crossroads of IndyGo’s Red and Purple Bus Rapid Transit Lines which will provide residents with accessible public transportation throughout Indianapolis.
