Sullivan, IN – Sullivan officials are celebrating the completion of a project that’s been years in the making.
Flaherty & Collins Properties invited the community to an open house at the Sullivan Lofts.
The new apartments are located on the southside of the square. The $8 million project took about four to five years to complete.
It’s part of a broader effort to revitalize the area, something the mayor calls a “downtown Sullivan renaissance”.
“If you can’t get people to drive downtown, get them to live downtown because every time they walk out their apartment or walk out their front door, they’re going to carry their billfold with them,” says Mayor Clint Lamb.
Flaherty & Collins Properties Developer Drew Rosenbarger says, “Overall it’s just going to help spur more development that you’re already starting to see happen on the square. Also, at the end of the day, it’s about providing a great place for lower income seniors to live, which is at the heart of the mission.”
There are 40 units in the Sullivan Lofts. 24 units are leased and officials are looking forward to getting the remaining units leased as well.
