Michigan City, IN — June 19, 2025 — Flaherty & Collins Properties, in partnership with the City of Michigan City, proudly announced the official ribbon cutting yesterday for the new 549-space parking garage at The Franklin at 11th Street Station. This milestone marks the first major component completed in the $101 million transit-oriented, mixed-use development in the heart of downtown Michigan City.
Strategically designed to meet both public parking needs and future residential demand, the new garage offers seamless access to the adjacent South Shore Line station, local businesses, and, upon full build-out in summer 2026, the 220-unit apartment tower that will make up The Franklin.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate this key step forward in bringing The Franklin to life,” said David Flaherty, CEO of Flaherty & Collins Properties. “The completion of this parking structure is not only an important logistical milestone, but a symbol of the growing momentum behind Michigan City’s revitalization efforts. We’re honored to be part of a project that will enhance connectivity, walkability, and quality of life for residents, commuters, and visitors alike.”
The Franklin at 11th Street Station will feature first floor retail and restaurant space. The development will be the ninth transit-oriented, mixed-use project in Flaherty & Collins’ portfolio that will catalyze urban growth and reinvestment within the community.
